There are beers you drink warm and then there are beers that are better ice cold and we mean so cold that a layer of frost builds up on the bottle when it hits the open air of a hot summer day. We found the fine folks from Bomber Jackets on Instagram a while back and sometimes being fans of the cold beer persuasion these guys peak our interest with the artwork on their koozies that come in a variety for bottles and cans. See the full article on Liver Bashers.
This was from first time I was able to sit with Giancarlo Arcieri (GC for short) while he was making a violin, a process I never seen before even with all the hours of watching shows like How It’s Made.
I have a need to take a picture of every beer I drink and also to get creative on how it is shot because of the need to try and hopefully different from the thousands and thousands of other people taking shots of their beers. You can see all of them over on The Liver Bashers.
I took this panorama on my walk home from work this morning and I been wanting to test out shooting only with my Canon 5d Mark III and 70-200mm F4 to see if it changes my recent view on photography that it has gotten very boring of late and I feel like I have been losing more interest with every new day, hopefully I can come out of this funk soon. Pardon my terrible writing I just a humble moron.
When I’m walking around the city I’m not looking for anything in particular to photograph. I might shoot something like the shot here in the LES skatepark under the Manhattan Bridge or I might have my tripod setup hunting light trails, but I will Most likely be sitting in a bar taking a shot of a beer for another site I run because beer is delicious for those of you who are of age to enjoy it. Please forgive the shit grammar, I’m learning to write better but with old age comes a stubbornness that doesn’t want to learn new things.
Took this shot awhile back on a trek to Long Island City for a pint. Wish I had more the say.
Shot on my Canon AE1 Program using Cinestill BwXX. A few of my shots had some light leaks but only when I’m shooting at a slower shutter speed. I believe I shot this at 2.8 / 60th of a second. I’m not mad at it because it gives the shot a little more character in my opinion.
I picked up a four pack of Winter Landscape by Industrial Arts Brewing and with the first sip I had a memory of a beer I used to drink all the time from Xingu. The first sip always tasted like grape soda.
They say patience is a virtue and most of the time I don’t have it with the exception of when I’m waiting for a shot when the light is perfect.
I do make fun of my friend Jessica and call her flower art hipster shit I do have to admit it is very creative. While we were getting shots of them people did keep stoping her to tell her much they liked them so she might be on to something here regardless of smartass opinion. Anyway give her a follow over at Created & Reincarnated and it you are interested is purchasing her art you can find it over on Etsy. Remember Mothers Day is this weekend and it would make a nice gift. Happy Mothers Day to all the good moms out there!
This is a very old shot I took while I was on a smoke break from work when I was on a light trail kick.
I took this shot on my Fujica ST705 using some Kodak 100 TMax and it is one of my favorite shots that I have taken since I started using film again because it was my first day of going to college. I know it doesn’t sound like a huge deal, but I was nearly 40 years old and had never been to college and I can say from without a doubt (I technically have a career) it really isn’t worth the trouble accept for the piece of paper I will get when I graduate and truthfully I’m only still going because a of person who pushed to do it and the others who continue to push me, but again I still think it is a huge waste of time in my opinion and if you are going keep it up because it will build character... Hopefully.
Shot from a Friday morning walkabout with Lorenzo Mitil who was out shooting some Cinestill BwXX around the Financial District in Lower Manhattan. Side note check out the Oculus during the morning rush hour, it’s like watching an episode of Planet Earth the only thing missing is Sir David Attenborough narrating.
Morning rush in the Financial District. For the Juice.
I first saw a few images that were shot using Cinestill BwXX and wanted to get a roll or two to test out. I looked for it at B & H Photo Video and saw it was on back order which had it for the best price so when they did get back in stock I order two rolls, also I did see it on Amazon but for double the price of all the stores that did carry it. The first roll I just started shooting around the city in the Financial District because you can get harsh light and dark shadows you can get and shot the second roll down in Philadelphia where I did get some decent shots. If your like me and only shoot black and white when using film you will love images you get from it, believe me even the really shit images I took have me looking them over twice just because of the feel the film gives them.
This blurry violin was in the shop for a neck reset.
You know it’s cold outside when you catch someone wearing an Ewok pelt to keep warm.
I was trying to get a shot of the red neon bull and this lady walked up and just stood there so I assumed she wanted me to take her picture.
