Loaded a roll of Kentmere Pan 400 into my AE1 for a quick walkabout and I can say this black and white shootout I’m working is going to be getting harder when it comes down to choosing a favorite film type.
Sometimes you just need to sit, smoke a cigarette and check your social media.
We were having some fun making the violin levitate for the camera.
I have been avoiding Chinatown for a minute because it seems to have become cliche over the last few years, also it has been overrun with tourists on holiday in New York, I don’t have a problem with tourists I just try to avoid them when I’m walking around. Anyway I took a detour and cut thru Chinatown and was reminded why I continue to stay away.
Was out and about with Mr. Lorenzo Mitil yesterday and ended up north of Houston Street which I never do because I’m my opinion it is boring and there is nothing to photograph and I might have wee bit wrong, but I will still stand behind my original opinion.
Shot on Cinestill BwXX after scanning I had to bring into Lightroom for a bit dodging and burning to get what I wanted.
Black and white always seems like it has more to say, I still haven’t figured out what it’s saying though.
I have had the privilege of meeting some truly talented people through the years including this man in the photo who’s face will never be scene and he goes by the name of Vers718 click on his name to see some of his work.
I’m a suckers for framing.
This shot was from February of 2017, NYC Chinatown around 7 am and It was a cold ass day winters day, but watching the city wake up to another day is always a sight to see.
As touristy as it gets at the Oculus this is still probably one of my favorite spots to get shots on a sunny day. The light dances around the follow throughout the day.
For the amount people the trains shuffle back and forth between New York and New Jersey, the Port Authority’s Path Trains are the cleanest modes of transport you can get in the New York area. Also I actually really like the framing of this shot.
When I’m walking around the city I’m not looking for anything in particular to photograph. I might shoot something like the shot here in the LES skatepark under the Manhattan Bridge or I might have my tripod setup hunting light trails, but I will Most likely be sitting in a bar taking a shot of a beer for another site I run because beer is delicious for those of you who are of age to enjoy it. Please forgive the shit grammar, I’m learning to write better but with old age comes a stubbornness that doesn’t want to learn new things.
Took this shot awhile back on a trek to Long Island City for a pint. Wish I had more the say.
They say patience is a virtue and most of the time I don’t have it with the exception of when I’m waiting for a shot when the light is perfect.
I took this shot on my Fujica ST705 using some Kodak 100 TMax and it is one of my favorite shots that I have taken since I started using film again because it was my first day of going to college. I know it doesn’t sound like a huge deal, but I was nearly 40 years old and had never been to college and I can say from without a doubt (I technically have a career) it really isn’t worth the trouble accept for the piece of paper I will get when I graduate and truthfully I’m only still going because a of person who pushed to do it and the others who continue to push me, but again I still think it is a huge waste of time in my opinion and if you are going keep it up because it will build character... Hopefully.
