Still working out the bugs

Everyday I have been testing out different lighting scenarios since I stepped foot into the new studio. Using two Godox QS400 II and a single Canon 430 EX Speedlite I have mocked up a few different setups that would need to be tweaked depending on what is being photographed, but I think I getting the hang of making the light do what I need it to do. Chinatown Sights

Some more shots of the Kodak Double X (5222) I pick up from the fine folks over at The Photo Warehouse aka Ultrafineonline.com. It really is a great black and white film and would recommend picking up a roll if you are looking for a good black and white to shot with.

More of the Kodak Double-X

I picked up of five rolls from the good folks at Ultrafine Online aka The Photo Warehouse and after a few weeks of testing out black & while 35mm film my top three are this The Kodak Double-X 5222, Kodak 2238 Panchromatic Separation 25 ISO film which is perfect for those bright days and Kentmere 400 which has a great sharpness and is a great all around film. I do have other favorites, but if I had to choose I would rather be stuck with these three as of right now, but who knows that might change as we get closers to the fall and winter seasons.

Ilford PanF Plus

I shot this Ilford PanF Plus pushed the 2 stops because I wanted to see what kind of contrast I could get out of in during the day, but I shot the whole roll on my walk home from work at five in the morning. Not disappoint with the shot came out, but now I need to pick up another roll to actually run my test.

Lackawanna Clock

Still on my black and white film tour testing all the different brand of film I can get my hands on. This was shot on some Kodak 5222 Double X, the same one that Cinestill rolls up into their BwXX film and it comes in at half the price of the Cinestill. I picked up five rolls from Ultra Fine Online . I also order five rolls of Kodak 2238 a panchromatic separation film that rates at ISO 25 and I can’t wait to get a roll of this shot to see how is looks.

Portrait Time

I realize I need to be shooting portraits more consistently to figure out my style, I would like to shot more creative portraits in the style of Sails Chong or Lindsey Adler.

I want out early this week with some coworkers to get their portraits using the natural light available before I brought out my flash.

If you happen to be reading post give and you’re interested in getting some portraits done shot me a message. I still agree with most photographers that gear doesn’t matter and you can make it work with what you have, but I need to upgrade my portrait lens if I’m going to make this a viable source of income.

A Single White Rose

I posted the unedited version of this shot on Instagram yesterday, but I felt it could use a wee bit of tweaking to get what I actually saw out of it. Basic jpeg scan on a Plustek 8200i and edited in Photoshop with the Camera Raw feature and messing around with the Gradient tool with some pallets I had saved. All in all I like the unedited film version but I’m personally partial to a bit more contrast in my images.

Kentmere Pan 400

Loaded a roll of Kentmere Pan 400 into my AE1 for a quick walkabout and I can say this black and white shootout I’m working is going to be getting harder when it comes down to choosing a favorite film type.

Ilford FP4

I shot a quick roll on my walk home for my part time job early Monday. I was able to get the sunrise with some clouds hovering of the the city skyline. I used the Cinestill Df96 to develop this roll and I really like the way the shots came out.
