This is one of the views from the new studio. That’s all….
I picked up of five rolls from the good folks at Ultrafine Online aka The Photo Warehouse and after a few weeks of testing out black & while 35mm film my top three are this The Kodak Double-X 5222, Kodak 2238 Panchromatic Separation 25 ISO film which is perfect for those bright days and Kentmere 400 which has a great sharpness and is a great all around film. I do have other favorites, but if I had to choose I would rather be stuck with these three as of right now, but who knows that might change as we get closers to the fall and winter seasons.
Both images consist of four separate shots from my Iphone that I stitched together in Lightroom. I posted the first one a few days ago and the second one I took on Monday morning.
I shot this Ilford PanF Plus pushed the 2 stops because I wanted to see what kind of contrast I could get out of in during the day, but I shot the whole roll on my walk home from work at five in the morning. Not disappoint with the shot came out, but now I need to pick up another roll to actually run my test.
Four separate shots on an IPhone and then stitched together in Lightroom to make a small pano. The sky over New York always looks best in the early hours of the day.
I realize I need to be shooting portraits more consistently to figure out my style, I would like to shot more creative portraits in the style of Sails Chong or Lindsey Adler.
I want out early this week with some coworkers to get their portraits using the natural light available before I brought out my flash.
If you happen to be reading post give and you’re interested in getting some portraits done shot me a message. I still agree with most photographers that gear doesn’t matter and you can make it work with what you have, but I need to upgrade my portrait lens if I’m going to make this a viable source of income.
Camera : Canon 5D Mark III
Lens : Canon 70-200 F4 non-is
This seagull let me get right up in its personal space to get the shot I thought it wanted to get its portrait taken.
I don’t have many shots of my father, but this one it buy far my favorite of him. He reads the Bible three to fours times a day. I asked after I took this shot if he reads is from front to back, he told me no and that when he sits down to read a passage he just made opens to a random page and reads. I asked him why he did it this way and he said it was because where ever the book to opened too was where he was supposed to be at that time. I myself am more of a agnostic when it comes to belief, but I can’t argue with his logic because I do believe when we do something it was meant to be that way and that time.
Happy Fathers Day Pop!
I went to B & H and picked up a bottle of Cinestill Df96 monobath to test out developing my own black and white photos to save some money and also because I hate waiting to get something back even if it’s only a day. Anyway I am pretty happy with the results some far and will probably be developing my own black and white photos from now on.
Camera : Canon AE1
Film : Ilford Delta 100
We were having some fun making the violin levitate for the camera.
I wanted to take a fancy shot for the Liver Bashers social media that was a bit different from the shots we normally post on our Instagram. So I grab a glass from a set Lorenzo Mitil gave me and stacked up some scotch tape to prop up the glass and with a wee bit of Photoshop magic, some color correction in Lightroom Mobile and Bobs your Uncle.
Black and white always seems like it has more to say, I still haven’t figured out what it’s saying though.
As much as I enjoy street photography portrait photography is something I really want to do, but it’s hard to find people who want their pictures taken. This is my friend Jessica aka Tiny Satan aka the woman behind Created and Reincarnated and what’s she lacks in height she makes up for with a vivid imagination.
I have had the privilege of meeting some truly talented people through the years including this man in the photo who’s face will never be scene and he goes by the name of Vers718 click on his name to see some of his work.
It was 3 a.m and I needed a burger that was something from a shit fast food restaurant.
They have brought these shit Lime scooters to Hoboken and I will be waiting to hear the first story of a drunk bastard walking out of one of the bars by the path station, getting on one and either crashing into a parked car, a group of people or mostly likely getting railed by a car and I hope the latter doesn’t happen, but I have seen pretty strange things happen in the mile square.
For the amount people the trains shuffle back and forth between New York and New Jersey, the Port Authority’s Path Trains are the cleanest modes of transport you can get in the New York area. Also I actually really like the framing of this shot.
